Scout Out The Changing World: Part 2

In the ever-evolving world of real estate, staying ahead of the curve requires more than just a knack for finding the right property. It demands a keen eye for detail, a solid grasp of market trends, and the ability to leverage cutting-edge technology to deliver unparalleled service. For real estate professionals, understanding the nuances of neighborhoods, tracking property conditions, and presenting detailed visuals are critical components in closing deals. This is where technology like Hivemapper’s Scout comes into play, revolutionizing the way real estate moguls navigate cul-de-sacs and condos.
Want to survey the hottest new homes and neighborhoods? Google Street View isn’t going to cut it. For this blog, we searched for listings of new housing developments, and selected a “coming soon” property in Castro Valley, California.
The Google Street View, dating back to November 2022, shows a vacant lot with little to no indication of an upcoming housing development.
Now, compare that with Hivemapper imagery taken three weeks ago.
"Not only do we see active construction on-site, but there's also a banner announcing the expected timeframe for home registrations. We also see the first reference building for the housing development, which means realtors will soon be able to update their listings to incorporate actual home images versus digital renderings.
In another example, we can see how Scout captures side-facing imagery, which is great for assessing property maintenance. With imagery taken as early as a week ago, a realtor can identify unwieldy lawns, HOA violations and/or generally assess the quality of a neighborhood.

Don’t waste your gas!

With Hivemapper’s self-service monitoring, agents can request bursts that will stimulate fresher imagery of any given location.
For realtors, keeping an eye on multiple properties scattered across a city can be both time-consuming and costly. Driving from one location to another not only eats up hours of the day but also racks up significant expenses in gas and vehicle maintenance. Fortunately, street-level imagery offers a modern solution to this age-old problem. With the ability to conduct virtual check-ins, realtors can easily monitor properties from the comfort of their office or home. This technology allows them to assess the condition of a property, track neighborhood developments, and stay updated on any changes—all without leaving their desks. Not only does this save time and money, but it also makes property management more efficient and sustainable.
